I just had a Diep 2 months ago. Yes, make sure you are in shape as best you can this does help. I didn't think I needed someone there after my surgery but, now I wish I would have let my sister be there, because for some reason it hit me hard. Anyway, it is a little tougher than getting the mastecomey because they are cutting the muscle. I started slowing walking, the docter said this is great for blood flow since I couldn't do any upper exercise. Good luck and keep your family and friends close by take care

Sit ups, sit ups, and more sit ups, and then cardio. That is the best advise I was given. It will make the post op easier. I am really happy with my results.

Thank you both for your advise. My husband will be with me for the whole time and was great after the mastectomy. Just nervous about a twelve hour surgery......what us woman go through!
