No, absolutely not. But breast cancer is never a normal state at any age. It's just that risk increases for any kind of disease including cancer when we age. If you do have cancer I am soon very sorry!!!!

NO! It's not normal but it is not unheard of for breast cancer to be diagnosed in a 16 year old. Have you actually been diagnosed with breast cancer or are you feeling a lump in your breast? If you feel a lump in your breast, please have it checked as soon as possible. So many women have lumps in their breast that turn out to be not breast cancer. Many, many, more than turn out to be malignant (cancer). I really do pray you have not been diagnosed with breast cancer.... it is a big burden to be carrying around but would be especially tough on someone who is only 16, Big hugs and take care, Sharon

Sharon is so right. It's very unusual to have breast cancer at such a young age. If you feel a lump, though, go to a doctor right away.
If you have a parent or someone who's just like one, you might want to tell them so you have some support. ...

      Best of luck to you!

You should get it checked but keep in mind that lumpy breasts, especially in a young woman your age, are very common. I had non-malignant lumps from the time I was about your age and had eleven removed over a Period of 30 years. All were ok and were dime to quarter size and all in the same breast. When I was 57 I was diagnosed with breast cancer but it was in the breast that never had any lumps. It's normal to have a fear and get those feelings about cancer because it is so front and center in the media and beause we all know someone affected by it. Yours is probably not, but you are at the age where you should get set up with a gyn anyway. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well I was not diagnosed yet. This might sound weird but, I was sitting one day then something told me that I had breast cancer. I wasn't even sure or anything and I did the breast self exam and all but I don't know what's normal. I can feel two hard lumps, one on each breast. I don't know if that's normal because it's on both breasts, but they feel like they're sticking out... I don't get my period anymore as I am on contraceptives continuously because I have an ovarian cyst. I've been on them since I was 13, when I first got my period, but didn't take them continuously. Ever since then I got my period, I've been having cysts . I got one surgically removed once.

I found my lump at 29. Traci, are you familiar with the Young Survivor Coalition? It is a great resource for breast cancer survivors and patients under 40.
