Where is the best place to be treated for breast cancer? I live in Florida and my children want me to go to Washington DC to stay with them to get better treatment.

Both places are good - I would go to the place with the best support for you. Your children mean well- but are can they handle your chemo and doctors visits etc... It's hard for both parties but the best is when you have good support.

It probably has something to do with the type of breast cancer you have. Going through treatment it's nice not to be by yourself. What do you want to do? If you don't feel like you will get adequate carie in FL. Then you probably need to go so wen

I live in Jacksonville, Fl, and got excellent care at the Mayo Clinic. It depends on what treatment is available to you locally, and what support system is available. Those are both important factors. . Whete will you have the best support system, and receive the best cafe?

You have to do what you feel is the right thing for you. I was alone (no family were I was living) but did have a breast patient navigator that was there for me for some of my appointments, she was even invited by the surgeon to observe my surgery and be with me in the preop area and PACU. She's young enough to be my daughter and was a real God-send. We still have email contact as I moved back to my hometown after surgery and completing chemo. I did my rads. in my hometown area where at least I have some family but I drove myself every day for 5 1/2 weeks and did OK.

I went to NY to Memorial Sloan Kettering breast center. I have triple negative breast cancer stage 4. My doctors in FL they didn't have but two triple negative patients, I needed doctors that have treated this type of cancer so it was NY. I'm with my oldest son and more of my family that lives here. I am homesick for my husband and son back home. Keep us posted. God bless you in your recovery.

It depends on your support and activities. Staying connected locally might be easier. But your children want you close. It is your decision. My mother in law has stayed local and five mths into it she is lonely. We have visited but she is feeling isolated. For myself I stayed local. I kept my schedule and my children's schedule too. The hardest was the first months of chemo. By radiation I was sick of treatments so that required new strategies to keep me me. You will be alone no matter where you are. Best.
