My mom has about two more months of chemo, five weeks of radiation, and five years of tamoxifen left for her treatment. She keeps asking when her life and body will go back to normal. Any idea of when her body will start recovering after chemo/radiation?

After chemo an rad it took my body almost 2-1/2 months. I wish I could say sooner but it was almost at the 3 month mark. Praying hers is much sooner. Tell her to hang in there. It will get better. For now take advantage and rest. God, water, walk in that order and u can survive anything. -

Stage 3C Patient
She's in the worst of it right now and it can be discouraging. I am 4 months post chemo and 8 weeks post radiation and I am feeling pretty good, but at night I am still physically exhausted. She will develop a new level of normal after all this. Once chemo is over keep her busy with family things and things she used to do. It will really help.-

I'm a year out of chemo and like 7 months from radiation and the end of the day I'm wore out but getting alot of rest at night helps good luck and she will get a new normal god bless

Mic found that on a three week cycle it took me the full month before normal hit. That was just in time for radiation. My plan is to have a month rest and then start the daily pill. I'm in radiation now. Radiologist is encouraging strength exercises to help body go to normal. She says it helps with energy levels too. Maybe your area has a Livestrong 12 week free course attached to the YMCA. Or perhaps the hospital does. I'm doing the y program while in radiation and will do the hospital one in the new year. Normal. I went back to work in the mornings to help me feel normal and do something other than cancer. I'd encourage some serious mind distraction thus far into it. I've got twelve mths of Herceptin and this sticks meg ping to the chemo room for 18 mths. I need my head to get away from cancer routine. Encouragement to engage in world beyond self is good. Sensitivity to smells fades slowly. Radiation brings on different odd flavors. It does suck.-

I think my mom should join our local Y, it really does seem like a great idea. Maybe she should take on other activities because I too noticed that she was much happier when she was distracted with other things.
Just wondering, how long did are you taking radiation? And side effects are there with it? Did your hair start growing back while radiation? And do you know of any foods that help with hair growth?
