Hi again Carla, more from me. Technical problems. Other thoughts: does the doctor know the approximate size of your tumor? All of these issues factor in to why he/she has recommended this course of treatment.
Generally, the more aggressive the type of cancer, the larger the tumor, any lymph node involvement, and/or any invasion of the cells into the breast tissue lean toward chemo. It's quite possible you don't have any of these.
I've had breast cancer twice. The first time I was stage 1B and I had a mastectomy (my choice -- lumpectomy was recommended) and radiation, only.
But for your peace of mind, once you get your own doctor to answer your questions and you still have some doubts, absolutely get a second opinion. The more sets of eyes that look at your situation the more informed you are.
