Has anyone had a baby after treatment? I was just diagnosed at age 30 and was advised that because I'm very estrogen positive, it would not be in my best interest to get pregnant now. I'm hoping it'd be safe maybe after 5 years of tamoxifen?

Sylvia, thank you for that comment. Brought tears to my eyes. I'm almost a one year survivor and almost 33. This is a fear of mine, but itll happen if it's meant to be.

A friend of mine is 35 and pregnant with her first. She was dx at 29 with ER cancer and was on tamoxifen for 5 years. She was given the green light to start trying and she got pregnant quickly! Good luck!

I know quite a few women who have had babies after cancer (a few were ER as well). Some doctors say you can come off Tamo 2 or 3 years to have a baby, then go back on to finish your 5 years. Some say absolutely not to that. Unfortunately, there such little research done on taking a break on Tamo and whether or not it is a good or bad thing to do. For me I think it is going to have to be such a big decision at that time. My doctor says I can take a break, but it is scary. I will be 39 1/2 after my 5 years of Tamo. Would like to have a baby before then, but dont want a reoccurence either. They say in the research though that having a baby after cancer can happen!! Go to breastcancer.org There are a few stories of women on there who have had babies after cancer. Overall it just stinks doesnt it. I wish the best for you!

Thank you, for sharing your stories. I start reading on this blog and get sad that so many women in their early thirties get diagnosed.

In the same boat. Half way though chemo for esstrogen positive. Looking at the five year tamo after that and I am 35. Was trying at the time of diagnosis, guess I am lucky that didn't work out. Still coming to grips with how quickly life paths change but it is still a journey with no guarantees. We are currently looking at fostering or adoption. Anyone with experience in that post cancer?

I had finished chemo (for estrogen positive breast CA) almost 4 years ago and I have a fourth and a half month old beautiful, completely healthy baby girl. She is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me. I stopped taking tamoxifen (I was on for almost 3 years) for 3 months before I started trying to get pregnant and ended up getting pregnant 3 months later. Unfortunately I was just diagnosed with a local reoccurrence. My doctors told me if it was going to happen again it would have happened regardless however, my pregnancy may have sped things up. I'm terrified but I'm not regretting stoping treatment to get pregnant. I refuse to
