For your convenience, we provide the option to sign up for BTS through Facebook. We adhere to Facebook’s Platform Policies, which protect the privacy of your Facebook account and personal information.
When you visit BTS you provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected by us and Website use information collected by us as you interact with our Website.
When you register with BTS, you provide us with certain personal information, such as your name, your email address, your city, your story, your relation to breast cancer, any photo you upload as your profile picture and any other personal or preference information that you provide to us.
When you enter BTS, we collect your browser type and IP address. This information is gathered from all BTS visitors. In addition, we store certain information from your browser using "cookies." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. If you select "keep me logged in" upon logging in to your account, we use a persistent cookie that stores your login ID (but not your password) to make it easier for you to login when you come back to BTS.
When you use BTS, you may form relationships, post comments, perform searches and queries, and transmit information through various channels. We collect this information so that we can provide you the service and offer personalized features.
Any improper collection or misuse of information provided on BTS is a violation of the BTS Terms of Service. To report a violation, contact us.
By using BTS, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.
BTS does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 is allowed to provide any personal information to or on BTS. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.
We strongly recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.
When you register with BTS, you create your own profile and privacy settings. Your profile information, as well as your name, and photo, are displayed to all users of BTS unless the privacy setting is specified to not display your name in posts made on BTS. We may occasionally use your name and email address to send you notifications regarding new services offered by BTS that we think you may find valuable.
Profile information is used by BTS primarily to be presented back to and edited by you when you access the service and to be presented to others permitted to view that information by your privacy settings.
Profile information you submit to BTS will be available to users of BTS who you allow to access the information through your privacy settings. Your profile, including any information you have made public, will be available to any third party search engines. You can specify in your privacy settings whether or not to display your email address in your profile.
BTS will send you service-related announcements through the general operation of the service. For instance, if someone answers a question you asked on the Site, you will receive an email alerting you to that fact. You can opt out of these emails at any time by going to “Account Info” and specifying what email alerts you wish to receive.
BTS is about sharing information with others – breast cancer survivors, supporters, friends and family - while providing you with controls that restrict other third parties from accessing your information. We allow you to choose your privacy settings in order to allow you to make informed choices about who has access to your information. We do not provide contact information to third party marketers without your permission. We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is 1) reasonably necessary to offer a service, 2) legally required or, 3) permitted by you.
NBCF will not sell, trade, or share your personal information with anyone else, nor send you mailings on behalf of other organizations. If you have a question about privacy, please contact us.
Access and control over most personal information on BTS is readily available through the profile editing tools. BTS users may modify or remove any of their profile information at any time by logging into their account. Information will be updated immediately. Individuals who wish to deactivate their BTS account may do so on the Account Info page. Removed information may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time but will not be generally available to members of BTS.
Where you make use of the communication features of the service to share information with other individuals on BTS, you may edit and delete the information. Please be aware that all posts (including questions, answers and comments) are visible to the users of BTS and the general public.
BTS reserves the right to rephrase any questions asked on the Site if the question is not clearly stated, contains misspellings or not presented in a question form. We will always contact you if we feel a question needs to be rephrased. We have this policy in order to ensure that questions are easily searchable to help others who may have the same questions and are looking for answers.
BTS takes appropriate precautions to protect our users' information. Your account information is located on a secured server. Because email is not recognized as a secure communication, we request that you not send private information to us by email.
